Darshan Hiranandani, the CEO of real estate-to-energy group Hiranandani, has confessed to assisting TMC MP Mahua Moitra in attacking the Adani Group. In an affidavit, Hiranandani admitted to using Moitra’s Parliamentary login to ask questions that targeted Gautam Adani, chairman of the Adani Group. Hiranandani believes that Moitra’s intention was to malign and embarrass Prime Minister Narendra Modi by attacking Adani. The allegations arose after state-owned company Indian Oil Corporation selected Adani’s Dhamra LNG import facility in Odisha, instead of Hiranandani’s planned facility. Hiranandani’s confession sheds light on the political tactics employed by the opposition to target prominent business figures and indirectly attack Modi’s reputation.
