Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has approved a scheme that allows private aggregators to operate premium buses in Delhi. The goal is to motivate individuals to opt for a premium public transport service rather than using private vehicles. According to this scheme, aggregators will need to operate air-conditioned buses with at least nine seats. The aggregator platforms will decide the routes and fares, which cannot be lower than those of the Delhi Transport Corporation buses. The scheme, which has been under development for several years, was finally sent to Lieutenant-Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena for approval. The first proposal for this scheme was submitted to the then L-G in 2016, but it did not receive clearance.
