Fugitive drug ring kingpin Lalit Patil (37) was arrested by a Sakinaka police team near Bengaluru after 15 days of being on the run. Patil had escaped from Pune’s Sassoon hospital on October 2 and was considered the main accused in the case. The police had discovered a godown-turned-factory in Nashik and seized a large quantity of mephedrone worth Rs 305 crore. Patil is accused of running the drug ring from Yerawada jail before escaping. The police plan to use the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) against Patil and his aides. They are also investigating his claims of being forced to flee the hospital. Nine police personnel have been suspended in connection with the case.
