Noida International Airport to be Inaugurated by end of 2024

The Noida International Airport, located in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, is set to become a major aviation hub in northern India. The airport, currently under construction, is expected to be operational for both domestic and international flights by the end of 2024.

Once completed, the Noida International Airport will serve as an alternate airport to the Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi, which is facing capacity constraints. This additional airport will not only relieve pressure on Delhi’s air traffic but also provide improved connectivity for travelers in the region.

The airport project is being developed by the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) in collaboration with the Swiss company, Zurich International Airport AG. With an estimated cost of ₹29,560 crores, the airport is being built on a sprawling 1,334 hectares of land.

The Noida International Airport is expected to have two runways initially, with the potential to expand to six runways in the future. It will have the capacity to handle around 12 million passengers annually in its initial phase, with a target of accommodating 70 million passengers per year by 2040.

The airport will feature state-of-the-art infrastructure and facilities, including a modern passenger terminal, cargo handling facilities, maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) services, and a dedicated area for general aviation. The airport will also have provisions for integrating various modes of transportation, such as metro, high-speed rail, and expressways, to facilitate seamless connectivity for passengers.

The development of the Noida International Airport is expected to boost economic growth in the region. It will attract investments, create job opportunities, and stimulate tourism and trade activities. The airport’s strategic location near major industrial and business hubs, such as Noida, Greater Noida, and Yamuna Expressway, makes it an attractive proposition for various sectors.

In addition to serving as a major transportation hub, the airport aims to become an eco-friendly and sustainable facility. The project includes plans for green initiatives like rainwater harvesting, solar power generation, and waste management systems to minimize its environmental impact.

The construction work for the airport is progressing as per schedule. The site clearance and ground leveling activities have been completed, and the construction of the access road is underway. The authorities are also working on acquiring additional land in the vicinity for future expansion of the airport.

The Noida International Airport holds significant promise for the aviation sector and the overall development of the region. It is expected to bolster India’s position as a global aviation powerhouse and provide a world-class flying experience for passengers.

As the project moves forward, stakeholders from the government, aviation industry, and local communities are cooperating to ensure the successful completion of this ambitious infrastructure endeavor. The inauguration of the Noida International Airport will be a milestone moment towards enhancing air connectivity and fostering economic growth in Uttar Pradesh and the entire northern region of India.
