The civic authority of Mumbai has instructed real estate developers and contractors of infrastructure-related works to implement pollution control measures in the wake of a decline in air quality in the city. Construction projects, including both private and government-led initiatives, are currently underway at 6,000 locations throughout Mumbai. Detailed guidelines will be issued by the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM) in the coming days, with the warning that projects failing to comply with the pollution control measures will be halted. This move follows concerns expressed by the Prime Minister’s Office about the air quality index in Mumbai.
