Karnataka’s IT/BT dept holds humour shows to create awareness about cyber security

Karnataka’s Centre of Excellence in Cyber Security CySecK organised ‘Hasya Sanje’ (An evening of laughter) events across districts to create awareness about cyber security among the public and government employees. This campaign is part of Cybersecurity Awareness Month observed globally in October. CySecK roped in humourists including well-known names such as Gangavati Pranesh, Sudha Baragur, Y V Gundurao, MS Narasimha Murthy, H Dundiraj and Basavaraj Mahamani to conduct shows at some districts in Karnataka. These talented humourists shed light on the critical aspects of cyber security and sought to create awareness about cyber scams, ransom attacks, identity theft, email hacking, etc. Cybersecurity is gaining increased focus in the government given the rapid adoption of IT solutions for delivering public services. The programs like “Hasya Sanje” are designed to reach the masses and also empower government employees with the necessary knowledge and best practices. This is part of the ongoing efforts of CySecK, housed in the IISc campus, with IISc as the anchor institute and KSCST (Karnataka State Council for Science and Technology) as the implementation agency. CySecK was set up by KITS (Karnataka Innovation and Technology Society) of the IT/BT department.
