Amazon Employees to Stage Protests in 30 Countries on Nov 24

Amazon employees across more than 30 countries, including the UK, are preparing to stage strikes and protests on Black Friday, November 24. The announcement was made at the inaugural Make Amazon Pay summit in Manchester, where trade unionists and political leaders gathered. Last year, the coalition behind this movement orchestrated over 135 strikes and protests in 35 countries on Black Friday. The GMB union called on the company to reassess its priorities, criticizing a recently announced pay raise for UK workers as inadequate in light of widespread issues with low wages and workplace surveillance. The Make Amazon Pay campaign is a collaborative effort between UNI Global Union and Progressive International, a coalition of over 80 organizations focused on labor, tax, climate, data, and racial justice.
