Bomb blasts took place at a gathering of Christian sect Jehovah’s Witnesses in Kalamassery, Kerala. The chief minister of Kerala, Pinarayi Vijayan, and many of his party and ministerial colleagues were in New Delhi at the time to participate in a dharna organized by the CP-M central committee against the Israeli attack in Gaza. Vijayan expressed his concern and stated that a detailed investigation will be conducted. The state secretary of CPI-M, MV Govindan, speculated about the possible connection of the blasts to the Palestine issue. Congress MP Shashi Tharoor condemned the violence.
