Designer Abhisek Roy is elated as he has designed Bengali authentic kurta-pyjamas and dhotis for the renowned actor Saif Ali Khan. Saif Ali Khan’s stylist reached out to Abhisek with the specific requirement of old Bengali style outfits. Abhisek was nervous but Saif made him comfortable during the whole process. Saif asked for design references and emphasized on the importance of cut and fit. Abhisek appreciated Saif’s respect for his suggestions and felt at ease during the trial. Saif loved all the outfits and even wore one and sent a picture expressing his satisfaction. Saif’s preferred colors are white, black, and blue, and he focuses on the detailing and structure of the clothes. Abhisek used fabrics like silk, cotton muslin, addi, pure cotton, and jamdani for the outfits. Saif plans to wear one of Abhisek’s creations on Diwali. Abhisek is currently working on designing regular wear clothes for Saif Ali Khan. When asked about his choice of simple ethnic clothes, Saif replied that he wants to explore his mother’s side of aesthetics. Read more.
