An earthquake of magnitude 6.4 struck the Indonesia’s East Nusa Tenggara province on Thursday, according to the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC). The Indonesian geological agency (BMKG) reported a magnitude of 6.3 for the earthquake, with no potential for a tsunami. The epicenter of the quake was onshore, 15 kilometers from the capital of the province, Kupang, and at a depth of 25 kilometers. While the quake was strongly felt in several cities, no immediate damages have been reported. Indonesia is situated in the Pacific Ring of Fire, an area known for its high seismic activity due to multiple tectonic plates.
