Teacher Skips Poll Duty, Says Arrange My Marriage First

A government schoolteacher in Satna, Madhya Pradesh, has been suspended for skipping election duty training and demanding marriage arrangements. Akhilesh Kumar Mishra, who teaches Sanskrit at Mahudar Higher Secondary School in Amarpatan, was issued a showcause notice on October 27. In his response, Mishra expressed his frustration over his forced bachelorhood and demanded dowry of Rs 3.5 lakh and a loan sanction for a flat. The district administration promptly suspended him on November 2. Mishra’s colleagues revealed that he has been under stress for a couple of years and had stopped using his mobile phone.
