Janata Dal (United) national president Rajiv Ranjan Singh, also known as Lalan Singh, delivered a scathing critique of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) during a public meeting in Bihar. Singh claimed that Modi is not a member of the Extremely Backward Class (EBC) or the Backward Class (BC), and accused the BJP of spreading falsehoods. He challenged the BJP leaders to prove Modi’s EBC status and questioned his claims of having sold tea at a railway station. Singh described the BJP as the ‘Badka Jhootha Party’ and accused them of cultivating lies in an attempt to mislead the backward communities who support Nitish Kumar. He reminded the audience of Modi’s promises of providing two crore jobs annually to the youth and depositing 15 lakh rupees in every Indian’s account, which he alleged were empty promises. Singh praised Nitish Kumar for conducting a caste survey in Bihar to empower the exploited and deprived sections of society, but criticized the BJP for spreading confusion after the release of the survey report. He emphasized that the economic survey had also been conducted alongside the caste survey, and the state government is committed to empowering economically weaker individuals from all castes. Singh highlighted the failures of Prime Minister Modi in providing employment to the youth and claimed that only a few capitalists have benefited during his tenure. He acknowledged the contributions of former Chief Minister Karpoori Thakur and Nitish Kumar in uplifting the EBCs in Bihar. Additionally, JD(U) State president Umesh Singh Kushwaha praised Nitish Kumar’s determination in completing the caste survey on time. On the other hand, BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi called for the tabling of the panchayat-wise report of the caste survey and the development model based on that survey in the Legislative Assembly. He accused the RJD and JD(U) of trying to take credit for the caste survey and feeling uneasy about positive statements from Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Modi stated that the decision to conduct the caste survey was made by the NDA government and accused Lalu Prasad and Nitish Kumar, who are now with the Congress, of not conducting caste surveys or providing reservations to the backward classes despite being in power for many decades.
