An FIR has been lodged against Uttar Pradesh Congress president Ajay Rai on a complaint from the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) for allegedly promoting enmity. The complaint alleges that ABVP members were involved in an incident of molestation on the Banaras Hindu University (BHU) campus. The FIR was lodged under section 505(2) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at the Lanka police station. Rai dismissed the complaint, stating that it showed the ABVP’s nervousness. The alleged incident of molestation took place when the complainant was forcibly taken by three men on a motorcycle and subjected to harassment. The police have registered an FIR and are investigating the matter.
