Arunachal Pradesh deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein highlighted the progress of power sectors in the state at a conference chaired by Union Minister of Power, New & Renewable Energy, R K Singh. Mein mentioned the registration of 98 small hydro power projects for carbon credits under the Universal Carbon Registration. He also mentioned that the government allocated 12 mega-hydro projects with a collective capacity exceeding 11,500 MW to three Central Public Sector Enterprises. These projects will not only boost the state’s economy but also contribute to the nation’s energy security through clean and renewable sources. Mein also discussed the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme, the commissioning of high voltage transmission lines, and initiatives for rural electrification. The state government aims to explore green hydrogen production, identify suitable locations for solar energy projects and wind energy projects, and strengthen the transmission and distribution system in the state. Finally, Mein sought support from the Power Ministry for small and mini hydroelectric projects, solar street lights installation, and electrification of villages along international borders.
