Dr. G.G. Lakshman Prabhu, a well-known urologist, passed away in Mangaluru on November 18, 2023. He had been serving at Kasturba Medical College Hospital Mangaluru for over 30 years and was the head of the Department of Urology.

Dr. Prabhu suffered a cardiac arrest while on duty and was in the intensive care unit. He leaves behind his wife and two children.

After completing his MBBS and MS at KMC Mangaluru, Dr. Prabhu pursued MCH in urology in 1992 and DNB in urinary surgery in 1993. He took charge of the urology department at KMC when it was established in 2012, and even continued in the position after his superannuation earlier this year.

The death of Dr. Prabhu has been mourned by Speaker of Karnataka Legislative Assembly U.T. Khader and Mangaluru City South MLA D. Vedavyas Kamath.
