Former J&K minister and Dogra Swabhiman Sangathan Party chairman Chaudhary Lal Singh, who was arrested by ED in Jammu on November 7 in connection with an alleged money laundering case, was sent to judicial custody for two weeks by a CBI special designated court on Saturday. The 64-year-old Lal Singh appeared before the court through video conferencing. The case involves an educational trust run by his wife and former MLA Kanta Andotra under PMLA. The anti-corruption court in Jammu had dismissed Lal Singh’s anticipatory bail. The CBI court observed that Lal Singh is not cooperating, and his statements are yet to be recorded. As a result, the accused has been remanded in judicial custody for 14 days, from November 18 to December 1. The court directed that Lal Singh be lodged at Amphalla jail in Jammu and undergo regular medical check-ups. It also specified that the accused shall be produced in court after the expiration of the judicial remand period, on December 1.
