The board of directors of OpenAI, which counts Microsoft and Infosys as investors, has ousted CEO Sam Altman. The board cited a lack of transparency and communication as the reasons for its decision. Mira Murati, previously the company’s chief technology officer, has been appointed as the interim CEO. Altman expressed surprise at his removal and received an outpouring of support on social media. Altman, known for his work with Loopt, Reddit, and Tools For Humanity, was instrumental in the launch of OpenAI’s popular chatbot ChatGPT. Microsoft, a major investor in OpenAI, has expressed commitment to the partnership.
