Former Karnataka Deputy CM Laxman Savadi has revealed that several important leaders and legislators from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will be defecting to the Congress. Savadi emphasized that this was not a coordinated effort by the Congress, but rather a response to the internal politics within the BJP. He stated that these leaders were joining the Congress because they were tired of the internal politics and once they joined, they would expect to be placed in important positions within the party. Savadi also mentioned that the BJP’s failure to choose a leader from north Karnataka as the president of the State unit would be detrimental for the party. He argued that the support of the Lingayat community, a major voting bloc in the state, would not be guaranteed without proper representation from northern Karnataka.
