The Special MP/MLA court in Bulandshahr has framed charges against Anil Sharma, a four-time MLA, in a land fraud case. Sharma allegedly forged documents to claim ownership of a 980 sqm plot that belonged to Vaishno Infrahomes Pvt Ltd, a Bulandshahr-based company. The complaint was filed by Neeraj Tyagi on behalf of the company. An advocate representing Sharma claimed that the allegations are false and intended to defame him. The court found Sharma guilty and summoned him under IPC sections 420 (cheating), 468 (forgery), and 471 (fraudulently using genuine documents). The court’s decision will be announced on November 22.
Sharma has a political background and has served as an MLA for four terms. He was elected to the Uttar Pradesh assembly from Khurja in 2002 and 2007. In 2012, he contested in the Shikarpur seat but lost to SP’s Mukesh Sharma. However, in 2017 and 2022, Sharma won from the Shikarpur seat on a BJP ticket. He served as the Minister of State for Forest, Environment, and Zoological Garden during 2019-2022.
