India Late in Infra Development Along LAC but Now Catching Up: Lt Gen RP Kalita
    Uncategorized

India, under the leadership of Eastern Army Commander Lt Gen Rana Pratap Kalita, has admitted that it was late in developing infrastructure along the border in comparison to China. However, significant efforts have been made in the last two decades to bridge the gap. Kalita emphasized the focus on developing infrastructure along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) while acknowledging that some unpredictability still exists in the region. Efforts have been directed towards advancing infrastructure in Ladakh, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Himachal Pradesh to enhance border security. These developments are aimed at preventing migration and ensuring access to essential services for residents of villages close to the LAC. While the situation along the LAC in Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh is said to be normal, the lack of demarcation on the ground has created differences in perceptions between India and China. As a result, people inadvertently cross the border during activities such as hunting and herb collection in the challenging terrain. However, established mechanisms are in place to resolve such incidents. India remains committed to continued infrastructure development and border security to strengthen its position along the LAC.
