The outbreak has affected 32 states and Canada, with new cases emerging in 17 additional states. Consuming food contaminated with salmonella can lead to food poisoning, with symptoms including diarrhea, fever, and abdominal cramps. Individuals experiencing symptoms are advised to contact their healthcare provider. In response to the outbreak, US health officials have issued recalls for several brands of cantaloupes.
