Adani Total Gas Launches Green Hydrogen Blending Pilot Project

Adani Total Gas, co-promoted by Adani Group and TotalEnergies, has announced the initiation of a green hydrogen production and blending pilot project in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. The project aims to blend green hydrogen (GH2) with natural gas for residential and commercial customers. GH2 is produced using electrolysis of water with electricity generated by renewable energy. The project is expected to be commissioned by Q1 FY24-25 and the percentage of green hydrogen in the blend will be gradually increased, subject to regulatory approvals. The company plans to reduce its carbon footprint and drive its progress in sustainable energy solutions.

After successfully completing the pilot, the hydrogen blended fuel will be supplied to larger parts of the city and other license areas. Studies have shown that an up to 8% hydrogen blend can reduce emissions by up to 4%. Adani Total Gas aims to partner with regulatory authorities and other stakeholders to share its learnings and develop an ecosystem for hydrogen blending in city gas distribution in India.

Suresh P Manglani, CEO of Adani Total Gas, stated that the company is fully committed to building an environmentally sustainable operation and reducing its carbon footprint. This project represents their ongoing dedication towards national infrastructure building for India to become energy independent by 2047. The project will contribute to the company’s progress in sustainable energy solutions.
