Fake Job Agency in Mumbai Dupes 120 Job Aspirants of Rs 2 Crore, 2 Held

The Santa Cruz police in Mumbai have arrested two people who allegedly duped over 120 job aspirants of Rs 2 crore on the pretext of providing them with jobs in the Gulf. The accused, identified as Ghulamgaus Jehangirdar and Faiyaz Khan, operated a fake agency called Ocean HR Enterprises. They issued fake job offer letters, joining letters, and flight tickets to the victims after collecting money from them.

The victims realized they had been scammed when the accused closed their office and disappeared. One of the victims, Valsad Rasikbhai Patel, was duped of Rs 69,000 and his passport. He was supposed to fly to Turkey on November 29, but he found out that his flight ticket was fake just two days before his departure.

Over 150 job aspirants who fell victim to the fraud approached the Santa Cruz police station to lodge a complaint. An FIR was filed against Arshad Ansari and his associates for duping the victims.

The police, in their investigation, tracked the bank accounts used by the fraudsters and found that the accused had collected passports and money ranging from Rs 50,000 to Rs 1 lakh. They also issued fake job offer letters and air tickets to deceive the victims. The police have successfully recovered the passports of at least 124 victims and other documents that were collected by the accused.

The accused, Ghulamgaus Jehangirdar and Faiyaz Khan, have been arrested and will face charges for their fraudulent activities.
