Karnataka BJP to Replicate its Assembly Poll Strategy in Upcoming Lok Sabha Polls

The BJP will prepare for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections by studying what worked for the party in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh and replicate the same in Karnataka, according to the party leaders who also believe the party’s success would also halt migration of their colleagues to the ruling Congress.

BJP state president BY Vijayendra said the party had taken the upcoming elections seriously and would fight along with JDS. The party’s victory in three state assemblies has increased its responsibility to present a stellar show in the Lok Sabha polls, the 48-year-old leader said in a chat with the media at the airport in Belagavi.

The BJP won 25 out of 28 seats in Karnataka in 2019 with the Congress and JDS as well as an independent member winning one each.

The Congress, led by chief minister Siddaramaiah and Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president DK Shivakumar, are trying to disrupt the BJP’s plans with four big-ticket guarantee schemes.

The election results had lifted the morale of BJP members, Vijayendra, the younger son of BJP veteran BS Yediyurappa, said in an obvious reference to the sedate mood that had set in after the party lost miserably to the Congress in May 10 assembly polls in Karnataka.

The Congress party carried out a campaign all over India claiming the success of its ‘false’ guarantees in Karnataka and the party also claimed the influence of the INDIA alliance was growing so much that it would wipe out the BJP in the Lok Sabha elections. However, the election results showed that people have rejected the Congress party’s promises, he said.

“The election results have given the BJP a big strength and shown people are not ready to buy into the Congress’s guarantees. Instead, through their votes, they have sought the guarantee of the country’s security and development which they believe only Prime Minister Narendra Modi could deliver,” Vijayendra said.
