Snowfall and Heavy Rains Expected in US, Flooding Risk in Pacific Northwest

A swift-moving clipper system from Canada is expected to bring snowfall to several cities in the Midwest and Ohio Valley, including Chicago, Indianapolis, and Columbus. This weather development follows a winter storm that caused disruptions in northern New England. The Pacific Northwest is experiencing a series of atmospheric river storms, leading to concerns about flooding. Warm air from the Pacific will elevate snow levels above 9,000 feet, causing melting mountain snow and contributing to water accumulation. Flood Watches have been issued for the region, covering areas from western Washington through western Oregon, including major cities like Seattle, Olympia, Portland, Salem, Eugene, and Medford.
