Dream Theatre Eyes $5 Million in Retail Sales from Maradona-Branded Merchandise

Dream Theatre, a brand management and licensing representation company, has announced its plans to generate $5 million from retail sales of Maradona-branded consumer products in India over the next three years. The company has secured the rights to launch the Maradona Consumer Products program in India from Podium Icons, a division of Podium Brands Group in the UK. Maradona’s merchandise will be available across retail chains, stores, and e-commerce platforms starting early in 2024.

According to Dream Theatre, Maradona enjoys a cult status in India, with generations of fans who have watched him play in football-crazed regions like Bengal, Goa, and Kerala, as well as throughout India. Maradona’s personality and impact on the game are considered timeless, and as football gains ground in India, fans both old and new will have the opportunity to celebrate his genius with authentic Maradona merchandise across various categories.

Podium Icons, which exclusively acquired the master licensor rights from Sattvica SA, the Argentine company that owns the Maradona name, image, and likeness rights, has granted the rights to launch Maradona-branded products in India and South Asia with Dream Theatre. Dream Theatre will drive the program in India and has already started working with leading names in apparel, footwear, luggage, gifts, novelty, and memorabilia to create a comprehensive licensing program.

Jiggy George, CEO and Founder of Dream Theatre, expressed excitement about representing Maradona in India and South Asia. He stated, “Maradona’s personality and impact on the game are timeless, and as football gains ground in India, fans old and new will have a chance to celebrate the sheer genius of Maradona with authentic merchandise across categories.”

Sanjay Wadhwani, CEO and Founder of Podium Brands, emphasized Maradona’s iconic status and his impact beyond football. He expressed the company’s commitment to building and leading the Maradona brand, sharing his remarkable story, and promoting social and charitable causes in his name.

In conclusion, Dream Theatre aims to capitalize on Maradona’s popularity in India by launching a range of Maradona-branded consumer products. With the rights secured and collaborations with leading brands underway, the company expects to generate $5 million in retail sales over the next three years.
