Addressing a Security Council meeting on the topic of ‘Situation in Afghanistan’ on Wednesday, India’s Permanent Representative at the UN, Ruchira Kamboj said that as a contiguous neighbor to Afghanistan, a friend to its people and as a country with direct stakes in ensuring peace and stability in Afghanistan, India was still concerned over the situation in the country. Kamboj emphasized that Afghan soil must not be used for terror activities against any country and called for measures to address the security challenges. India highlighted its commitment to supporting the Afghan people in their journey towards peace, security, and development.

The Security Council meeting provided an opportunity for countries to discuss the current situation in Afghanistan and explore ways to address the challenges and promote stability in the country. It also allowed for the sharing of perspectives and concerns, as well as the identification of potential solutions.

India’s intervention at the meeting reflects its active engagement and commitment to promoting peace and stability in Afghanistan. As a neighbor with historical and cultural ties to Afghanistan, India has been actively involved in various development projects in the country and has provided humanitarian assistance. India has also been a strong advocate for an Afghan-led and Afghan-owned peace process.

The situation in Afghanistan remains complex, with ongoing security challenges and political uncertainties. The international community continues to monitor the situation and work towards supporting the Afghan people in their aspirations for peace and stability. The Security Council meeting serves as a platform for these discussions and collective efforts.
