Lorries start crossing border after Polish farmers end blockade, Kyiv says

Polish farmers have ended their blockade of one of the border crossings between Ukraine and Poland, allowing the movement of lorries to be fully restored, according to the Ukrainian border service. The blockade had been ongoing for several weeks, with truck drivers demanding that the European Union reinstate a system requiring Ukrainian companies and European truckers seeking to enter Ukraine to have permits. The farmers later joined the protest, calling for government subsidies for corn and opposing tax hikes. It is estimated that around 3,900 trucks were waiting on the Polish side of the border. The Ukrainian government is hopeful of reaching an agreement with the new Polish government to bring an end to the blockades.
