Amid the ongoing tussle between the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) in Tamil Nadu, ED officials skipped a summons by the Madurai city police on Tuesday. The summons were related to a case registered by the DVAC officials after they accused the ED officers of obstructing their duties during a raid on December 1. The raid was conducted following the arrest of ED officer Ankit Tiwari. However, the ED officials failed to appear for the summons, and it is reported that the summons will be issued again at a later date.

Ankit Tiwari was booked by the DVAC under the Prevention of Corruption Act based on a complaint filed by Dr T Suresh Babu, the chief civil surgeon of Dindigul government medical college hospital. According to the complaint, Tiwari had allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs 3 crore in exchange for not taking action against Babu. This bribe amount was later reduced to Rs 51 lakh, and Tiwari allegedly received Rs 20 lakh from Babu on November 1. However, on December 1, Tiwari was caught by the DVAC while receiving another Rs 20 lakh.

The tussle between the ED and DVAC in Tamil Nadu has raised concerns about corruption and misconduct within law enforcement agencies. The case of Ankit Tiwari and the allegations made against him highlight the need for stricter measures to prevent such acts of bribery and corruption. The outcome of the summons and the subsequent actions taken will determine the course of justice in this case.
