The Central Zone police in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh, have arrested a teacher for allegedly beating a Class 9 student severely for not doing homework. The accused, identified as Ruben, worked at Sri Chaitanya School’s Currency Nagar branch. The incident occurred on Friday when Ruben allegedly beat the boy with a stick and then with his belt. The boy’s parents staged a protest in front of the school and filed a complaint with the Patamata police. The police registered a case, arrested Ruben on Sunday, and produced him before a court. The boy is currently receiving medical treatment, and a detailed investigation is underway.
