The Archeological Survey of India (ASI) has requested a Varanasi court to delay the release of its survey report on the Gyanvapi mosque complex. The report, which was sealed and submitted on December 18, was part of a court-ordered scientific survey to investigate claims that the 17th-century mosque was built over a pre-existing Hindu temple. The Hindu side’s lawyer confirmed the request for a four-week delay in making the report public. The ASI’s plea aims to allow more time for the court to review the findings before they are released to the public.
