The death toll from a devastating earthquake in central Japan rose to 92 on Friday, regional authorities said. The earthquake, which had a magnitude of 7.5, struck the Noto region in Ishikawa prefecture on New Year’s Day. Two elderly women were miraculously pulled alive from the rubble after being trapped for 72 hours. However, hopes of finding other survivors are fading as thousands of rescuers battle aftershocks and challenging conditions.
