Rayadurgam MLA Kapu Ramachandra Reddy announced his resignation from the YSR Congress Party, stating that he was betrayed by Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy for denying him the party ticket. Despite his efforts to meet Jagan, the MLA was denied an opportunity. Ramachandra Reddy, a non-Reddy belonging to the Boya community, plans to contest as an independent candidate in Rayadurgam. He also intends to field his spouse in the Kalyanadurgam Assembly Constituency in the upcoming elections. The YSRCP leadership is considering fielding former MLA Mettu Govinda Reddy for Rayadurgam as a replacement for Ramachandra Reddy.
