US Trade Representative Katherine Tai to Visit India for Ministerial-Level Meeting

United States Trade Representative (USTR) Katherine Tai will visit India from January 12-14, to participate in the 14th ministerial-level meeting of the India-US Trade Policy Forum, according to a statement by the office of the USTR. During the meeting, Tai and India’s commerce and industry minister Piyush Goyal will co-chair the forum and discuss various trade-related issues. These include agriculture, industrial products, services, and the protection of intellectual property. The Trade Policy Forum, established in 2010, plays a crucial role in strengthening and expanding the bilateral economic and trade relationship between India and the United States. Under the leadership of Ambassador Tai and Minister Goyal, the forum has helped remove trade barriers and foster cooperation on key issues. Tai will also meet with India’s Minister of External Affairs, Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, and engage with civil society representatives, business leaders, and stakeholders. The two sides have already achieved significant milestone agreements that provide market access for American farmers and producers, as well as high-quality products for Indian consumers. These agreements include tariff reductions on various goods and the resolution of outstanding World Trade Organization disputes.
