India and the UK are set to further strengthen their strategic ties during Defence Minister Rajnath Singh’s visit to London this week. The two countries will focus on enhancing security cooperation in the Indian Ocean Region (IOR) and discussing defence-industrial collaboration proposals including fighter jet engines and electric propulsion for warships. Singh is scheduled to meet his UK counterpart Secretary of State for Defence Grant Shapps and will also discuss the security situation in the Indo-Pacific region, as well as ongoing conflicts in Israel-Hamas and Russia-Ukraine. This visit aims to boost defence cooperation between India and the UK. Singh will also meet with top UK officials, including British PM Rishi Sunak and foreign minister David Cameron, and engage with CEOs and leaders of the defence industry in the UK. This visit marks the first official visit by an Indian defence minister to the UK in nearly two decades.
