Private vehicles should not be used for commercial purposes without obtaining tourist permit: Transport Commissioner

Transport Commissioner A. Shanmugasundaram has issued a warning regarding the use of private vehicles for commercial purposes without obtaining the necessary permits. He mentioned that there have been reports of private vehicles being used to transport tourists and film crews, which is a violation of the regulations. The department has simplified the process for private vehicles to obtain licenses for commercial use, including tourist permits and T-Board permits for luxury vehicles. Special drives were conducted across the state to identify and penalize offenders, resulting in the collection of ₹18.53 lakh in fines and the detention of 121 vehicles.
