Haryana Chief Secretary, Sanjeev Kaushal, announced that the construction work of the Kurukshetra elevated track is in its final stages and is expected to be completed by March this year. The track, being constructed by the Haryana Rail Infrastructure Development Corporation for Rs 350 crore, aims to eliminate five manned level crossings on the Kurukshetra-Narwana railway line. This construction will significantly improve the operation and safety of rail and road traffic in Kurukshetra city.
During the inaugural function of the Haryana Rail Infrastructure Development Corporation’s new office building in Gurugram, Kaushal also mentioned the Haryana Rail Orbital Rail Corridor (HORC) project. HORC, an associate company of the corporation, is laying a 126 km long mid-high speed railway track with overhead electrification from Palwal to Sonipat via Sohna, Manesar, and Kharkhoda. The track is being constructed to facilitate double-stack container freight and will also be capable of running double-decker freight trains. The land acquisition work for this project has been completed by the Haryana government, which has also compensated the farmers with Rs 1100 crore. The railway project covers parts of Sonipat, Rohtak, Jhajjar, and Gurugram districts. The project is being carried out by the corporation by forming a special purpose vehicle (SPV) with HSIIDC, GMDA, and private companies Maruti and Allcargo.
Sanjeev Kaushal commended the officers and employees for their contributions to the achievements of the HRIDC Corporation and expressed hope for setting new records in the development of the railway system in the state. During the event, he also launched the new logo of the Haryana Rail Infrastructure Development Corporation and a portal called ‘SPEED’. The officers and employees of the corporation were felicitated for their outstanding work.
Vivek Joshi, Secretary, Department of Financial Services, Government of India, mentioned that the Haryana government can take a long-term loan from the National Bank for Finance and Infrastructure to develop its rail projects. The Chief Secretary later informed that the Haryana Metro Corporation will soon be formed, with a secretary-level officer of the Government of India as the chairman, and an administrative officer of the Government of Haryana as the Managing Director. He also announced that the construction of the Rapid Rail Transit System (RRTS) from Gurugram to Bhiwadi is set to commence shortly.
