Minister of State for Transport & Highways and Civil Aviation, General V.K. Singh (Retd.) participated at the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra (VBSY) at Anaicut and Agravaram village in Gudiyatham town in Vellore on Friday. The yatra is part of the Union government’s nationwide programme aimed at reaching out to citizens who are eligible for various central schemes but have not benefited so far. The nationwide programme was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on November 15, 2023, with the goal of reaching beneficiaries of the Centre’s flagship programmes in both rural and urban areas. In Tamil Nadu, the initiative has been launched in Tiruvannamalai, Nilgiris, and Salem. During the event, Minister V.K. Singh highlighted the government’s commitment to implementing welfare schemes for the upliftment of women, farmers, the poor, and the youth. The yatra, which uses an automated IEC van, aims to popularize centrally sponsored schemes among the rural population. Mr. Singh also shared his ideas on tribal area development, interacted with tribal farmers, and distributed various resources to support agricultural and rural development. The Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra is a significant step towards ensuring the inclusive growth and development of the country.
