Nearly three months since its inauguration, the 17-km Sahibabad-Duhai stretch of the Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) in Uttar Pradesh has become a boon for students in nearby areas. Commuting has become simpler and more cost-effective for students like Sarjit Singh, who used to spend close to 40 minutes and ₹70 a day to travel from his village of Bhikanpur to Ghaziabad. Since the RRTS became operational, he has been able to save half an hour and ₹10 daily. With a daily footfall of around 3,000 commuters, most of whom are students, the RRTS has proven to be a time-saving solution. The Sahibabad-Duhai stretch, which includes five stations, is part of the larger 82-km Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut corridor, expected to be functional by June 2025. Once completed, it aims to reduce the travel time between Delhi and Meerut to less than an hour.
