International Kolkata Short Film Festival: A Treat for Short Film Lovers in Kolkata

The fourth edition of the International Kolkata Short Film Festival (IKSFF) is set to take place from January 23 to 28 in the city. The festival will follow a hybrid format, with online screenings from January 23 to 25 and physical screenings at Rotary Sadan from January 26 to 28. According to the organisers, they received around 270 submissions from 30 countries, including the US, Czech Republic, Poland, Japan, Australia, Serbia, Egypt, Korea, Nepal, Bhutan, and others. Out of these, around 80 films were nominated, and 30 will be finally selected for awards in various categories. The festival will showcase a diverse array of films, including Yudhajit Basu’s Nehemich, which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival, Cabbage that stars Moon Moon Sen and Sabyasachi Chakraborty, the Oscar-nominated Two Way Street, Satish Sharma’s Yaan, and the Sanjay Mishra-starrer Giddh, to name a few. Speaking about how short films are considered stepping stones towards a career in the film industry, festival chairman Sourav Chakraborty said, “We are seeing how popular short filmmaking is becoming day by day. We are providing a platform that encourages new filmmakers to showcase their work and reach the masses.”
