TMC spokesperson Kunal Ghosh has stated that while the party is open to an alliance with Congress in Bengal for the Lok Sabha seats, they will not tolerate any unjustified bargaining. Ghosh emphasized that TMC leader Mamata Banerjee will make the right decision at the right time. The statement comes in response to speculation about a breakdown in TMC’s talks with Congress after Mamata advised party workers to be ready to fight all 42 Lok Sabha seats in Bengal. Ghosh stated that TMC respects the alliance but will not sit and wait if bargaining becomes impractical. Bengal Congress president Adhir Chowdhury responded by saying that the party knows how to contest and win, while All India Mahila Congress president Alka Lamba mentioned ongoing discussions with INDIA constituents in various states, including Bengal. TMC’s Ghosh warned that his party is capable of going solo, highlighting their previous experience of fighting BJP on their own in the assembly polls.
