The 61st national conference of the Indian Academy of Paediatrics (IAP) titled ‘PEDICON 2024’ will start at the Lulu Bolgatty international convention centre in Kochi on Thursday. The theme of the conference is ‘Global warming and child health’, focusing on the detrimental effects of global environmental changes on the paediatric population. Around 7,000 delegates from India and abroad will attend the four-day event. The conference will feature lectures, seminars, and presentations to discuss steps required to reduce infant mortality in the country. Devan Ramachandran, a Kerala High Court judge, will inaugurate the conference which is being organised jointly by the IAP Kerala and Kochi chapters. This is the second time Kochi is hosting the national conference, after the first one in 1998. Dr. S. Sachidananda Kamath, chairman of the organising committee, mentioned that arrangements have been made to prevent traffic congestion, with delegates being provided with a mobile app to find parking slots and venue details.
