Congress has accused the Modi government of hypocrisy in awarding Bharat Ratna to late Karpoori Thakur. The Congress president, Mallikarjun Kharge, has invited the Bihar allies for Rahul Gandhi’s rally in Purnia as part of the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra. The rally aims to showcase the unity of the grand alliance, which includes RJD, JDU, Congress, CPI-ML, and other Left parties. Rahul Gandhi remembered Thakur on his birth anniversary and criticized the Modi government’s decision to hide the results of the 2011 caste census and its indifference to a nationwide caste census. Congress president Kharge praised Thakur as a staunch opponent of communalism and narrow-mindedness.
