India has pledged its support in the rescue operation of six Sri Lankan fishermen who were captured by Somali pirates in the Indian Ocean. The fishermen were aboard the multi-day fishing trawler, Lorenzo Putha-4, which set sail from the Dikowita fishing harbour in Sri Lanka on January 16. The Sri Lanka Navy alerted the UN’s central maritime command about the incident and received assurance from India to aid in the fishermen’s rescue.
