Indian Navy responds to distress call from merchant ship in Gulf of Aden

The Indian Navy’s guided missile destroyer, INS Visakhapatnam, responded to a distress call from MV Marlin Luanda in the Gulf of Aden. The merchant ship had been struck by a Houthi anti-ship missile, causing a fire onboard. The INS Visakhapatnam promptly deployed a team with firefighting equipment to assist the crew in extinguishing the fire. All crew members are safe, and the fire has been fully extinguished. The MV Marlin Luanda is now sailing towards a safe harbor. This incident comes after another merchant ship, MV Genco Picardy, was attacked by a drone just days before, which was also responded to by the INS Visakhapatnam. Indian Naval specialists inspected the damaged area on MV Genco Picardy, and the fire was brought under control.
