In three separate incidents in Chennai, two suspects, including a repeat offender, were arrested for sexually assaulting juvenile girls. The first incident involved a 40-year-old woman from Koyambedu, who lodged a complaint against a 22-year-old man named Balaji for sexually assaulting her daughter in 2022. Balaji was arrested and sent to jail. However, after being released on bail, he approached the same juvenile girl and sexually assaulted her again, promising to marry her. Based on the woman’s complaint, Balaji was arrested again and sent back to jail.
In another incident in Washermenpet, a Class IX student complained against her stepfather, 36, stating that he sexually abused her when she was alone at home. When the man made sexual advances towards his stepdaughter, she immediately informed her mother, who then lodged a complaint. The stepfather was arrested and sent to jail.
The third incident took place in Puzhal, where a 21-year-old man named Ramesh lured a 10-year-old girl to the terrace of his friend’s house and sexually abused her. The girl bravely informed her mother about the incident, leading her to lodge a complaint with the police. The police have registered a case and are currently searching for the absconding suspect.
It is important to note that the identity of the victims has not been revealed to protect their privacy, in accordance with the Supreme Court directives on cases related to sexual assault.
