The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has initiated a project to paint road humps and fit them with reflectors across Bengaluru. With an allocation of Rs 4 crore, the aim is to enhance visibility and improve safety for motorists. BBMP officials stated that the tender process has been completed and work orders have been issued to successful bidders.

In an interview, the BBMP’s engineer-in-chief, BS Prahlad, emphasized the timing of the project. The absence of rain and the presence of sufficient sunlight make it an opportune moment to carry out the painting work, as it will enable the paint to dry faster. The completion of the project is anticipated within a few weeks. The allotted funding of Rs 4 crore will be utilized to paint both road humps and pedestrian crossings.

Bengaluru currently has approximately 3,000 road humps, and the BBMP has been receiving numerous requests from the traffic police and the general public to install more of them. The BBMP’s major road division assesses these requests and constructs new road humps wherever deemed necessary.

To ensure optimal coverage across the city, Rs 2.5 crore of the allocated funds will be utilized in the east, west, Yelahanka, and Mahadevapura zones. The remaining Rs 1.5 crore will be utilized in the south, Bommanahalli, Dasarahalli, and RR Nagar zones.

In related news, BBMP is also seeking public suggestions for its annual budget. The public can submit their suggestions either through a suggestion box or via email to bbmpbudget@gmail.com. The BBMP will evaluate these suggestions and allocate funds for relevant projects accordingly.
