Congress leader Rahul Gandhi alleged that MGNREGA workers have not received their dues for the last two years. The Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act is a historic scheme that provides employment to rural workers from their homes. Gandhi said that the MGNREGA budget in West Bengal has been reduced to zero, leaving 76 lakh families dependent on the scheme in a dire situation. He also mentioned that the job cards of seven crore workers across the country were deleted, and the mandatory requirement of Aadhaar has denied MNREGA benefits to 35 percent of workers. Gandhi accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of attempting to ruin the MGNREGA scheme. He emphasized the importance of labor justice in the economic structure of the country and highlighted it as a fundamental part of his Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra. Gandhi stated that the hardworking workers in every village play an essential role in building the country, not just the big corporate houses. He promised to continue the fight until justice is served to the MGNREGA workers.
