The T20 World Cup is just four months away and teams like the United States and West Indies are preparing for the tournament. While several players will be playing in various T20 leagues, Andre Russell, the two-time T20 World Cup-winning player from the West Indies, has given a major hint about his retirement after the tournament. He mentioned that he plans to retire from international cricket after the T20 World Cup but might reconsider if needed. Russell spoke about this in an interview with ESPN Cricinfo.

Russell has already made a comeback to the West Indies T20 squad. He was part of the squad that won against England in a series played in December 2023 and will be representing the West Indies in their upcoming matches against Australia. Prior to England, Russell played his last T20 format against New Zealand in November 2021.

Andre Russell has had an impressive international career with 72 T20, 56 ODI, and 1 Test matches. As a power-hitter, he has scored 846 runs in T20s, 1034 runs in ODIs, and played only 1 Test match, taking a single wicket. His inclusion in the West Indies T20 squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup alongside Nicholas Pooran is a major boost for the team’s chances in the tournament.
