The Women Safety Wing of Telangana State Police recently established a Bharosa Centre in Nirmal district. This new centre brings the total number of Bharosa centres in the state to 26. The centre aims to provide specialized assistance and support to victims of crimes against women and children.

During the inauguration ceremony, Shikha Goel, the ADG of the Women Safety Wing, guided the proceedings. The opening ceremony was presided over by Justice A Karnakumar, the District and Sessions Judge of Nirmal, along with Dr. G Janaki Sharmila, the SP of Nirmal, and local police officials.

The Bharosa Centre, initially operating from rented premises, has plans to move to state-of-the-art facilities with the help of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funding. The centres, operated by Bharosa – Society for Protection of Women and Children, are staffed with professionals including counsellors, psychologists, legal experts, and medical personnel. They provide specialized assistance to victims, focusing on contemporary forms of crimes against women and children.

Each centre has dedicated female police officers and medical professionals to ensure comprehensive support and holistic care for the survivors. Since their establishment, Bharosa centres have handled numerous cases related to Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (PoCSO) and rape, playing a vital role in facilitating justice and rehabilitation for the survivors.
